Becoming Stand against Violence Instructors

On Sunday 21st May, Aimee and myself, along with four other selected instructors, took part in a training course with Stand Against Violence – a charity organisation that teaches self defence and more in schools around the country. One of the major factors about the course is it has been set out to cover the key stage requirements in schools.

Stand Against Violence (SAV) was established in 2005 in response to the murder of 17 year old Lloyd Fouracre, who was beaten to death one day before his 18th birthday by a group of drunken youths. The charity was founded by Lloyd’s brother, Adam. It began as a campaign to get more police on the streets and has gradually developed into an extremely successful anti-violence education charity.

‘SAV exists to reduce and prevent street violence by using unique educational resources. We deliver unique educational lessons and workshops to young people about violence from multiple perspectives. SAV help to highlight the consequences of violence and challenge young people to consider their actions on others, before they make the wrong choice.’

They are now growing their charity and spreading the message, which is where we come in. Under their lead instructor, Matt Stait, we have qualified as SAV schools self defence instructors.

Aimee and I are now offering free 30 minute sessions where we talk about the organisation and the self defence training (donations can be given to the charity if you wish).

All bookings should be made through SAV and they will be able to sort out any funding that may be available to you as we can offer this to schools, youth clubs, organisations and more.
