Self Defence FAQ

Q. Is This a Martial Arts course?
A. No, this is not martial arts, we need to make the techniques easy and simple for everyday people to understand without you attending classes for years to learn complicated moves.

Q. How much do the courses cost?
A. The six-week or full day course costs £50- £60 for Adults
Children’s six-week courses £25.  This is payable before commencing the course.
1-2 hour classes are £10 for Adults and £6-8 for children.

Q. Are the instructors insured and DBS checked?
A. Yes, both instructors have insurance and are DBS checked. The insurance certificate can be produced upon request.

Q. Do I need to be fit?
A. No, you do not need to be fit, but there are physical aspects involved.

A. At the moment most classes are designed for adults over the age of 18, however we offer KEWAP, anti-bullying and
basic self-defence courses for children too.

Q. Do you train people with disabilities or learning difficulties?
A. Yes, our courses are accessible for persons with disabilities or learning difficulties, however please get in touch if you have any concerns.

Q. What should I wear?
A. We suggest that you wear loose-fitting clothes that allow you to move easily as we want you to feel comfortable while training.

  • The venue has a wooden floor, however mats will be used at various times. We therefore suggest that trainers are worn until we are using the mats (which will require you to be bare-footed or with socks only).
  • Please DO NOT wear trainers that do not fit properly or clothing that is either too tight or too long which may cause injury or tripping hazards. Good hygiene, especially clean and tidy feet and nails whilst on the mats is also something you may wish to consider to ensure the comfort of all participants.

Q. How many people will be on the course/class?
A. The course is designed for a minimum of 4 and maximum of 10 so that we can dedicate more time to everyone.

Six-week courses (the first class being an hour and a half and all other classes being an hour in length);
Full-day courses (approximately 6.5 hours long);
1 or 2 hour classes.
